Here are some home remedies to try and clear your blockage, before calling in the professionals.

Unblocking a drain can often be addressed with simple home remedies before resorting to chemical solutions or professional assistance. These methods utilise common household items and can be effective in clearing minor clogs. Here are some popular home remedies to consider:

• Boiling Water: Pouring boiling water down the drain can help dissolve grease and soap buildup. Repeat several times for best results.
• Baking Soda and Vinegar: Combine half a cup of baking soda followed by half a cup of vinegar. Let the mixture fizz for about 30 minutes, then flush with hot water.
• Salt and Baking Soda: Mix equal parts of salt and baking soda and pour the mixture down the drain. After 30 minutes, follow with boiling water to help clear the blockage.
• Dish Soap: Pouring a generous amount of dish soap down the drain, followed by hot water, can help lubricate and break down grease clogs.
• Wet/Dry Vacuum: If accessible, using a wet/dry vacuum can help suck out the clog if it’s near the surface of the drain.

These remedies may provide a quick fix for minor drain issues, but persistent problems should be addressed by a professional to prevent further complications.
